Your Account: Profile, Password & Avatar

Audience: This article is for church administrators (and applies to any logged-in user).

This page covers managing your own user account — your name and contact info, your password, your avatar, and the certifications listed on your profile. It is separate from the Church Profile (which covers your church's information, not yours).

Where to Find It

Click your avatar in the top-right of the admin panel and choose Profile.

Sections on the Profile Page

The page is organized into sections. Each section saves independently.

1. Basic Profile

Edit:

  • First name, last name, preferred name (nickname)
  • Email address (used for login)
  • Phone number
  • Birthday, anniversary
  • Bio / about me

Make your changes and click Save.

2. Avatar

Upload a profile picture. PNG or JPG, 2 MB max, square works best. You can upload or replace your avatar, or remove it.

Your avatar appears in the top-right nav, on schedule cards, in messaging, and anywhere your name shows up in the admin panel.

3. Password

Change your password. You must enter your current password to confirm the change.

Tip: If you've forgotten your current password, log out and use the "Forgot Password" link on the login screen instead.

4. Two-Factor Authentication (Security)

Enable, disable, or regenerate recovery codes for 2FA. See Security Settings for the full walkthrough.

5. Certifications

Add and remove certifications relevant to your role (CPR, Background Check, Child Safety Training, etc.). Each certification can have an issued date and an expiration date.

Certifications are visible on your profile to administrators (useful for volunteer screening) and may be referenced by serving team requirements.

6. Notification Preferences

Choose which notifications you want to receive on which channels (email, push, SMS, in-app). See the dedicated Notifications & Preferences doc for the full list.

Common Tasks

Update your email address

  1. Open your Profile page.
  2. Edit the Email field.
  3. Click Save. Your next login will use the new address.

If your church requires email verification, you may need to confirm the new address before it takes effect.

Change your password

  1. Open your Profile page.
  2. Scroll to Password.
  3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice.
  4. Click Update Password.

The system enforces a minimum length and (typically) complexity rule. After update, you stay logged in.

Replace your avatar

  1. Open your Profile page.
  2. Click the avatar image (or the Upload button).
  3. Pick a JPG or PNG up to 2 MB.
  4. Crop if prompted; click Save.

Click the small X on the avatar preview to remove it without uploading a replacement.

Add a certification

  1. Open your Profile page and go to Certifications.
  2. Click Add Certification.
  3. Enter the name (e.g., "CPR — American Heart Association"), the issued date, and the expiration date if applicable.
  4. Click Save.

To remove, click the trash icon next to the certification.
