Worship Spots: Putting Songs in Their Place in the Service
A worship spot is a named slot in the service, such as "Opening" or "Response". Spots let the pastor say where the music goes and let the worship team say which songs fill each place, and the service plan and its setlist always show the same spots.
How Spots Work
- The service plan and the setlist linked to the same service share one set of spots. Build either side first.
- The pastor places spots in the order of service. The worship team puts songs into each spot from the setlist.
- A spot with no songs yet reads Waiting for the worship leader.
A setlist must be linked to a service to use spots (see Building Setlists).
On the Service Plan Tab
Open the worship event and its Service Plan tab.
- A strip headed Suggested by your worship leader lists spots the worship team has proposed. Click Place to put one into the order of service.
- To add a spot yourself, click Add item and choose the type Worship spot, then name it.
- Each spot shows its songs and keys, as they stand in the setlist. Click the spot's name to rename it, use Edit in setlist to open the setlist, or remove the spot with the trash icon.
- When the worship team changes the setlist, a badge such as Changed today appears beside the spot until you have looked at the plan.
Song titles in the plan open the song for people who can view songs; others see plain text.
In the Setlist
In the builder, use Suggest a spot to propose a spot, and the Spot menu on each song to put it in one (Not placed yet means it is in none). Put them all in the first spot is a shortcut for songs that are not placed. See Building Setlists.
When the Service Moves or the Plan Is Archived
- When you edit an event series, each spot and its songs move onto the rebuilt date, so the songs stay in their spots.
- Archiving a plan frees its spots, so a spot can be placed on another plan of the same service. Restoring the plan does not put the spot back.
Who Sees the Songs
- A regular member looking at the event page sees the spot name (for example "Opening"), but not the song titles or keys. The member's day view follows the same rule.
- Song titles and keys show for a church administrator, anyone with Service Plans view access, a person scheduled on that service, and anyone the linked setlist already lets view it.
- The public share page and the share PDF list each spot's songs and keys. The share link is the access, as before.
