Teacher and Parent Lesson Views
Once a lesson is attached to a class session on an event (see Lessons on Your Sunday), two people get exactly the view they need — and nothing they don't. The teacher gets their lesson to teach; the parent gets a take-home for their child. Both appear automatically in the portal, on the event itself.
The Teacher: "Your class"
When a teacher opens the event they're assigned to teach, a Your class block appears — showing only the session(s) they teach, never another teacher's class.
Everything they need to prepare is right there:
- The lesson title, scripture, and description/summary.
- Objectives and supplies.
- The memory verse.
- A Materials list — every attachment, ready to download.
- An Open full lesson link into the library for the complete detail.
This is "push, not hunt": the teacher lands on the event and their prep is waiting, instead of searching the library for the right lesson.
The Parent: a Take-Home
When a parent opens that same event, they don't see the teacher's manual — they see a gentle take-home for their own child's class only. It carries the family-facing part of the lesson:
- A short summary of what the class covered.
- The memory verse.
- A "Try at home" activity.
- The materials to download.
There's no serving roster, no objectives sheet, and no other classes — just what a parent needs to keep Sunday going through the week. A parent whose child isn't in a class on that event simply sees the normal event page.
Time-boxed on purpose. The take-home appears in the days around the class date — from about a week before through two weeks after — and then steps out of the way, so a family's event page doesn't pile up with old lessons.
Two Controls Worth Knowing
- Turn parent content off. If you'd rather keep lesson content staff-only, an admin can switch off Show parent content in portal under Lesson Settings. The take-home then shows only the class title and materials (when shared), not the summary and verse.
- Materials access. Downloads on these portal views are served through a controlled, access-checked link — a teacher or the right family member reaches them, but the file isn't a permanent public URL.
