Health Dashboard
The Health Dashboard is an executive overview that combines the most important church-wide engagement and finance metrics into a single page, with month-over-month change indicators on every metric where the comparison makes sense.
It is meant for senior pastors, executive pastors, and board members who want to glance at the church's vital signs without diving into individual reports.
Accessing the Health Dashboard
- Go to Reports in the admin sidebar.
- Click the Church Health Dashboard banner near the top of the Reports page.
Access requires Reports permission and a plan that includes the Reports & Analytics feature (currently the Pro tier). Churches on lower tiers will not see the Reports section at all.
What the Dashboard Shows
The dashboard surfaces a fixed set of metrics. Each tile shows a current value and (where applicable) a percentage change vs. the previous calendar month.
Always-Shown Metrics
| Metric | Period | Comparison | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active People | Snapshot (right now) | None (snapshot) | Count of people flagged active. |
| New People | This calendar month | vs. last calendar month | Anyone added during the month. |
| Attendance | This calendar month | vs. last calendar month | Total attendance records in the month. |
| Check-ins | This calendar month | vs. last calendar month | Total check-ins via the check-in system. |
| Active Groups | Snapshot | None | Active small groups. |
| Upcoming Events | Next 7 days | None | Active events starting in the next week. |
| Overdue Follow-ups | Snapshot | None | Pending follow-ups whose due date has already passed. Lower is better -- this metric inverts the trend color (red when growing, green when shrinking). |
Conditional Metric
If your church plan has the giving feature enabled, the dashboard inserts an additional tile:
| Metric | Period | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Total Giving | This calendar month | vs. last calendar month |
The value is the sum of all donations dated in the month. It is hidden entirely for churches without the giving feature so the layout never shows a blank tile.
How the Percentage Change is Calculated
The change number on each tile is computed as:
((current - previous) / previous) * 100, rounded to one decimal.
Two edge cases are handled explicitly:
- If both this month and last month are zero, no change indicator is displayed (the tile shows a neutral state).
- If last month was zero and this month is non-zero, the change is rendered as
+100%(we treat "went from nothing to something" as 100% growth rather than infinity).
For the Overdue Follow-ups tile the trend color is inverted -- a +50% change is shown in red (more overdue tasks), while a -30% change is shown in green (fewer overdue tasks).
How to Read the Dashboard
The dashboard is a triage tool. Read it from left to right and use month-over-month change as a directional signal, not a precise figure.
- Active People flat or shrinking + New People up: churn is offsetting growth. Pull the Missing People and First-Time Visitors reports to find the gap.
- Attendance down but Check-ins steady: the check-in classes are healthy but adult-service attendance is slipping. Pull Attendance by Class to confirm.
- Total Giving down vs. last month, especially around the holidays: open the Giving Reports and check fund-level breakdowns and recurring donation health.
- Overdue Follow-ups climbing: assignments are not being worked. Talk to whoever owns follow-up triage and consider rebalancing assignees.
- Upcoming Events = 0: nothing is on the calendar for the next 7 days. Either intentional (slow week) or a calendar entry was missed -- worth verifying.
Tip: The Health Dashboard is designed to be the first page you check on a Monday morning. If three or more metrics are trending the wrong way, schedule a 30-minute leadership huddle to dig into the underlying reports.
What the Dashboard Does Not Show
- No date range selector -- the comparison is always "this calendar month vs. last calendar month." Use the individual category reports if you need a custom range.
- No CSV/PDF export -- to share the dashboard, use your browser's print-to-PDF.
- No drilldowns from tiles -- click into the relevant category in the main Reports menu (People, Attendance, etc.) for line-by-line detail.
Permissions
The dashboard requires Reports permission, the same as every other Reports page. The entire Reports section also depends on your plan tier: it requires the Reports & Analytics feature, which is included on the Pro plan. Churches on lower tiers won't see Reports in the sidebar, so the Health Dashboard is unavailable to them.
