Uploading Large Lesson Materials
Teaching videos are big. A full-resolution VBS video or a bundled curriculum pack can run into the hundreds of megabytes. Lesson attachments in TimelyChurch now support files up to 1 GB, uploaded directly and reliably.
How to Attach a File
From a lesson's page, add a material and choose your file. Small files upload the usual way. For large files, TimelyChurch automatically uses a direct, chunked upload:
- The file is sent up in pieces, with a real progress bar so you can see how it's going.
- If your connection hiccups partway through, the upload resumes rather than starting over — a genuine help on slow or shaky church internet.
You can also attach a link or embed instead of uploading, which is often the simplest choice for very large videos you already host on YouTube or Vimeo.
Size Limit and Storage
- The lesson upload ceiling is shown on the Lesson Settings page under Attachment uploads, so you always know the current maximum.
- Large direct uploads depend on your TimelyChurch storage configuration. Where they aren't available, uploads fall back to the standard path (with a smaller size limit) automatically — you don't have to do anything differently.
- Uploads count toward your church's storage allowance. If a file would put you over your limit, TimelyChurch lets you know before the upload finishes, so nothing is lost. Free up space or review your plan if you hit the ceiling.
Tip: For the largest teaching videos, linking or embedding from a video host keeps your storage free and still gives teachers and families a one-tap play. Reserve direct 1 GB uploads for materials you truly need to store in TimelyChurch.
Allowed File Types
Uploads are limited to safe, expected file types (documents, images, audio, and video). If a file type isn't accepted, you'll see a message listing what's allowed — convert or link the file instead.
