Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests

The Prayer Requests feature gives group members a shared prayer wall where they can submit, view, and track prayer needs. This article explains how prayer requests work within groups.

Overview

Prayer requests are available for Private Groups and Public Groups (not Teams or Classes). The Prayers tab appears in the group detail page under the tab bar.

Submitting a Prayer Request

  1. Open the group detail page and click the Prayers tab.
  2. In the submission form at the top of the page, type your prayer request in the text area.
  3. Optionally check Submit anonymously if you do not want your name displayed alongside the request.
  4. Click Submit Prayer Request.

Your request will appear immediately in the prayer list for all group members to see.

Note: Only active group members and admins can submit prayer requests. The submission form is hidden from non-members.

Viewing Prayer Requests

Prayer requests can be filtered using three tabs at the top of the Prayers section:

Filter Shows
Active Requests that are currently open and have not been marked as answered. This is the default view.
Answered Requests that have been marked as answered by a leader or the original submitter.
All Every prayer request regardless of status.

Each prayer request card displays:

  • Requester name (or "Anonymous" if submitted anonymously)
  • Time submitted (shown as relative time, e.g., "2 hours ago")
  • Request text (full content with preserved line breaks)
  • Answered badge (green badge when the request has been marked as answered)
  • Answer notes (displayed in a green highlight box when the submitter or leader adds an update)

Marking a Request as Answered

Leaders, admins, and the original submitter can mark a prayer request as answered:

  1. Find the request on the Prayers tab.
  2. Click the green checkmark icon next to the request.
  3. The request will be updated with an "Answered" badge and moved to the Answered filter view.

The active prayer request count displayed in the Prayers tab badge will decrease accordingly.

Portal users: Members can also mark a request answered from the My Group page in the member portal. The same role rules apply — leader, admin, or original submitter — and it works the same way as marking a request answered from the admin panel.

Deleting a Prayer Request

Leaders, admins, and the original submitter can delete a prayer request:

  1. Find the request on the Prayers tab.
  2. Click the red trash icon.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deleted prayer requests are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

Prayer Request Count Badge

The Prayers tab in the group detail page shows a badge with the number of active (unanswered) prayer requests. This gives leaders a quick visual indicator of how many open prayer needs the group currently has.
